“Doula” is an ancient Greek word meaning “woman’s servant” and today is used to describe a person who assists a woman during pregnancy, birth, and/or the immediate postpartum period.
Studies have shown that the presence of a Birth Doula during labor and delivery may lead to a shorter and less painful labor with fewer medical interventions and increased satisfaction with the birth experience.
Additionally, the assistance of a Postpartum Doula during the critical newborn phase may lead to a faster recovery period for new Moms, increased success with breastfeeding, and a decreased risk of postpartum depression.
My goal and passion as a doula is to help children by assisting parents to become empowered and confident in their decisions from birth to parenthood! |
